This specific thing delivers overtake own prospect, that one has chaned into a great replace on me personally, The thought appeared correctly and rapidly A Bum Deal: An Unlikely Journey from Hopeless to Humanitarian

I was supposed to give a speech when I got the award, but I had no idea what to say. Given what my life had been like in recent years, I felt as if this were some kind of bad dream. I thought about being born in a small southern town, beginning my life by drinking beer from a baby bottle, getting kicked out of school, the whole army disaster, the crazy van trip out west, train jumping-and then, all those years I spent as a homeless drunk.

And, of course, the Bumfights-when I risked life and limb for booze while some kids filmed the whole damn thing. Looking at all this on paper, I wondered how any man could have survived.

And I noticed my hands. Even after a number of painful and expensive laser treatments the letters were still there, tattooed across my knuckles: B-U-M-F-I-G-H-T. I thought about the damage these hands had done-to me, and even worse, to my best friend...

The last thing Rufus Hannah expected the morning he climbed into an alley Dumpster was to have his life completely changed. It was the last thing Barry Soper expected either, when he spotted a homeless man sifting through the trash outside his apartment complex. But in that moment they'd join on a path of triumph and defeat, despair and salvation.

Rufus Hannah is regrettably known to millions around the world as "Rufus the Stunt Bum" because of his participation in the infamous Bumfights-an underground video series in which homeless men were given booze and cash to fight or do bone-shattering stunts. But his story doesn't begin or end where the videos do...it is a story of incredible pride and perseverance, and a recovery no one-least of all Rufus himself-could have imagined.

A Bum Deal is a story of our personal demons and a journey from the depths of despair to recovery and rebirth, and the ordinary man who risked everything to help this stranger survive against the most unimaginable cruelty.

Rufus Hannah is an advocate for the homeless, and currently an assistant manager of a townhome development. He was formerly featured in the infamous Bumfights videos.

Activist and businessman Barry Soper is chairman of the board of Oak Grove, a nonprofit educational and residential treatment center serving 160 children, ages five to eighteen. Soper has served on the board of St. Vincent DePaul Village, a key center for San Diego's large homeless population.

Amazing story - an inside look at homelessness
So compelling! Could not put it down. Rufus is amazing and Mr. Soper is really a saint. I have already told lots of friends about this great story. It really changed the way I look at the homeless. Those horrible kids who did the filming are contemptible but the people who bought those videos are just as bad. This book is so revealing. This deserves to be made into a movie!

Inspiring book
How many times has any of us ever walked past a homeless man or woman on a street and wondered what it would take to help? This book shows the potential of taking that extra minute to help your fellow man. Rufus' remarkable journey both into and out of homelessness and the help he receives from a complete stranger who helps turn his life around are monuments to what humans are truly capable of, as much as the kids filming the fights also reveal what humans are truly capable of. The dynamics between the two make for a fascinating read and a story you will remember for a long time.

How a Man Fell and Rose Again
'A Bum Deal: A Memoir' is the story of the man who was the face of the infamous website BumFights, Rufus Hannah, aka Rufus the Stunt Bum. It chronicles his journey from early alcoholism and social misfit into a symbol of unrestrained greed and disregard for human life and finally a voice for others with similar troubles. It's a story that sounds clichéd in our times but still occurs all too often. And as is often the case, a human face and voice are what's needed to drive the issues home.

It almost seems Rufus was doomed from the start. Coming from southern working class parents with alcohol problems, he was born jaundiced due to his mother's drinking. Even so, they often resorted to the old southern remedy of lacing the baby bottle with vodka to keep the child quiet. Yet the parents instilled a work ethic into all of their children that served him well when little else did.

His journey takes him through failed marriages and jobs lost due to...

This unique item Offer surpass own anticipation, that one has developed into a amazing buy for myself personally, The concept came properly as well as swiftly Rising to the Challenge: My Leadership Journey

“There are all kinds of reasons why people fail to fulfill their potential. Perhaps they lack opportunity, perhaps they lack support, perhaps they lack tools or training or education. But everyone has potential. This I know. Our Founders knew it too. They had the radical insight that the right to fulfill your potential— to use your God-given gifts—is a right that comes from God and cannot be taken away by government.”

Since the 2006 publication of her New York Times bestseller, Tough Choices, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina has faced a new round of challenges. She ran for the Senate as a Republican in deep-blue California but was unable to unseat the entrenched incumbent. She battled breast cancer, wondering if she’d even survive. Worst of all, she suffered the devastating loss of a beloved daughter. Yet despite these setbacks and tragedies, she remains undaunted: “I’ve come to see lessons and blessings in these passages. I know now that life is not measured in time. Life is measured in love and positive contributions and moments of grace.”

Now, Fiorina shares the lessons she’s learned from both her difficulties and triumphs. Drawing on her experience as a pioneering business and nonprofit leader, a politically active citizen, and a parent, she diagnoses the largest problem facing our country today: untapped potential. Too often, American men and women are held back by systems that prevent them from working and flourishing. Too many people lose hope for themselves. Too many lack the opportunity to use their gifts and live lives of meaning, dignity, and purpose.

In 2014, Fiorina launched the Unlocking Potential Project, a new grassroots organization, to share a message with those who worry about America’s future: we have all the resources we need to prosper, but we don’t tap into them. By ignoring conservative principles—or failing to articulate those principles in ways that connect with regular people—politicians have failed their constituents, abandoning them to the crushing burden of our bloated government.

Fiorina believes that politics, like business, is primarily about people. With warmth and compassion, she provides a vision that reaches across the usual barriers of gender, race, income, and party affiliation to craft a message that appeals to a wide range of Americans: a message of hope. As she learned facing life’s challenges, “Hope is a curiously strong thing.” Her story—and her ideas—will restore hope to those discouraged about the future.

Review :
Read it in 2 sittings
This was an engaging, interesting, thought-provoking and inspiring book. It was also an easy read that I couldn't put down and I'm usually NOT a non-fiction reader. If anybody is interested in the rise of a woman from Secretary to CEO, how she achieved that success and valuable insight for professional women I highly recommend this book. Of course, now that Ms. Florida is a candidate for the highest political office in the world it provides deep insight into her ideology and a framework for her plan to unlock human potential that has been lost in America. I was inspired by the amount of charity work she funds and leads for women around the world and her insight, again, in unlocking human potential globally. As a business woman and manager in corporate America I was fascinated with her style and took a lot of notes on leadership.

Great book! Highly recommend it.

I like her vigor and what she has displayed in business ...
I was hesitant at first prior to reading this book. As a somewhat macho guy I will admit I was thinking , chick flick in American Business. I will tell you as an upper level business manager that I would be very proud to have ever worked for her. She is inspiring to the point where with the amount of adversity she has gone through, knowing what I know now, I would run through a brick wall to complete any project she would send my way if I were her subordinate.

Unlike the above poster, I am into politics moderately. I like her vigor and what she has displayed in business needs to be duplicated in politics.

Highly recommend males read this.

amazing leadership lessons for 2016
"rising to the challenge" is a very amazing book and it offers hope to anyone who reads it. I was very inspired by carly fiorinas life she has faced tough odds in her life losing a daughter and facing breast cancer and yet she is not bitter she offers hope in this book and shares her incridable journey of faith that helped her get through these hard situations in her life. she also shares her leadership and vast managment skills that she has been so successful with over the years and shows how she can offer something special as president for the voters. great gift idea for a friend or family member also recamended tough choices by carly fiorina and 13 hours in benghazi
